I did plenty of minimum wage shit jobs in my earlier days (I'd have to use my fingers and toes to count them all), and just about every one of them was dead-end and demeaning. And I've got to say that, given the choice between getting welfare, and getting yelled at every day by an uptight supervisor for the smallest things and ending up with $0 in the bank at the end of the month to show for my efforts, yeah, I'd rather have the welfare. Of course, I'd still try to look for a decent job, but I also understand that a lot of people don't have that option, or the door to a decent job is always being slammed in their face (been there, done that).
