181. The essay is bad, but his non-apologies are worse.

All he had to do was say that he no longer believes the things he wrote as a 31-year old, that things have changed and he has changed with the times, but instead he doubled down and threw the blame on those who rightly reacted negatively to how he wrote about women in that article. It's old, it's just an article, it was satire, you're just humorless. All typical excuses we hear about serious misogynistic shit all the time, and that Bernie Sanders would use them is seriously disappointing.

What Sanders wrote wasn't "something like '50 Shades of Grey'". It was worse. He's blaming women for the way men behaved towards them. That women's survival instincts at a time when they couldn't open bank accounts on their own or have an abortion caused men to treat them like objects, caused men to dream about gang raping 12-year olds. When you are 31, we expect better. However, that you haven't realized how egregious it is 40-odd years later is really, really bad.
