(94,378 posts)...which included his community policing program; his public review board for the police department, including the creation of a 311# for complaints; and, most effective, CitiStat, designed to track crime, which helped bring the crime rate down. Police shootings went down, as well as a dramatic reduction in overall killings; something which you can blithely dismiss, but something which resulted in hundreds of Baltimore residents' lives saved.
It's amazing how you can speak about the zero-tolerance policy in isolation of other facts involved in the mayor's approach to the worst crime statistics (record killings) in the nation at the time in Baltimore. Criticizing that policy in isolation of other facts gives you zero credibility on the issue.
