I was definitely leaning Bernie. The full-on Hate-Hillary slime-spew is changing that, post by post. I'm sure there are many others like me; and frankly, if I saw a tumult of anti-Bernie posts it would probably have the opposite effect.
A poster questioned me -- a post on an anonymous message board would have such power? -- implying that I must be weak-minded, or stupid, or a hidden Bernie-hater. But the posters currently dominating this board with acidic anti-Hillary screeds are not anonymous to me; they are progressives I have seen post before, and whom I generally respect.
There's some basic psychology at work here -- I don't want to see any Democratic candidate trashed, period. The one-upsmanship, the sneering snark, the piling-on -- WTF? Some people seem to be pushing the meme that Hillary is Satan -- 'She drinks milk! She's a pawn of Big Dairy!' -- over and over and over. Someone thinks Hillary might be a pawn of the Family -- yeah, Hippie Hil's whole goal is to spread Crypto-Fascist control, she's just pretending to be liberal -- I'm sorry, but that's just Lying Fucking Bullshit.
Really, is this all just pro-Hillary Black Ops? 'Cause I was voting for Bernie. The slew of Full On Bullshit is skewing me Hillary. Fucking ridiculous behavior from otherwise intelligent progressives. Check yourself before you wreck yourself. Perhaps the excitement of having Bernie in the primaries is driving you into primal tribe-exclusion behavior or something.
If Bernie himself was acting anything like this, I'd stop listening to a single thing he said. However, he's always right, he's awesome, he's the best candidate IMO -- but I don't want to hear Slime, not from anybody, not about any Democratic Candidate, period. Everything I know about both Hillary and Barack tells me I don't agree with many things they believe in; still, I trust that they are civil servants, and have at their core a basic sense of what is best about this seemingly-cursed nation. Bernie would say the same thing.
Association games and barely-based accusations of Pawn-control are not just a logical fallacy -- they're a tactic that demeans the candidate they are purportedly intended to support.
Just saying. Bernie Sanders is a better person than some of his Number One fans are.
