(14,691 posts)I live in NYC and I know where it's easy to get to and where it's well, not-so-much. Traveling to Roosevelt Island on a day off with no particular event going on, fine. With a possible virtual rush-hour type crowd coming from everywhere... The would-be attendees who live here and in the also well-populated suburbs will have to cram on to the single available subway line or the single bus line or that little tram.
I forgot the bridge which is at the opposite end of the island: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roosevelt_Island_Bridge
I note that this bridge connects Roosevelt Island with Astoria, Queens, not the rest of Manhattan (Trivia: Roosevelt Island is considered part of Manhattan).
The logistics don't seem too well thought out. Space is at a premium on Roosevelt Island. There are numerous places in NYC with more room which are served by more subway lines and buses and parking. But they're going for the symbolism so have at it. I was thinking of her fans.
