9. We should just acknowledge that the National Security State truly rules the country.

Congress and the President are there to serve as a facade for Democracy. The NSA, FBI, CIA, etc. don't change when a new political party gains control, they simply remain where they are. When's the last time a President/Congress cleaned house with these secret agencies? Maybe the 70's with the Church Committee.
