Is anybody thinking maybe the neighbors in McKinney are racist [View all]

As in, you have a town full of pampered white upper-middle class suburbanites who instinctively see any crowd of black people as dangerous. The black teenagers are just assumed to not belong in the neighborhood. And the residents are thinking, "They must be doing something wrong. We're not sure what, but I'm sure we can think of something. It just seems like they are up to no good. Let's just call the police to figure it out."

That somehow they sensed the innocence and safety of their sheltered, privileged white children being endangered. They felt threatened by that.

And the local residents' racism is validated when the police are called and they turn a non-situation into a situation.
