In reply to the discussion: How many women here are Bernie supporters? [View all]question everything
(52,197 posts)How about we support a candidate based on his/her platform not his/her gender or skin color?
Yes, I supported Hillary in 2008 and will probably vote for her in my caucus. I still think that she would have been a better president. Water under the bridge now. I did vote for Obama once he was the candidate. I wonder how many Bernie supporters would do the same if Hillary is the candidate.
But what was amazing in 2008, on DU and among Democrats country wise, was that blacks had no qualms in claiming their support for Obama because he was black. Never mind that Obama had no track record. At least, in contrast to Kerry in 2004, Obama did not have to defend his "voting for before voting against."
But women fell over each other proclaiming that just because they were women did not mean they would vote for Hillary.
Please stop this gender and or race war right now.
Oh, I know. How many Christians are not going to vote for Bernie because he is a Jew?? Heavens forbids he will have a "mixed loyalty." (I have no idea where he stands on Israel).
Shall I support Bernie because both of us are graduates of the University of Chicago?
You can see how ridiculous personal politics can go.
