Yeah, that's pretty crazy. When was the last time the minimum wage has been doubled? How reasonable (or sane) is it to suggest doubling it now?
Even if you think it is reasonable, how many American voters agree? Remember these are the same American voters who have packed the House, the Senate, state legislatures and Governor's offices with people who are suggesting the opposite - abolishing the national minimum wage.
Public universities free? Again, pretty crazy. First of all nothing is free, the taxpayers will have to pay for it - the voters. You know, the same voters who have been electing Republicans to legislatures who have been voting to cut funding for Universities and forcing tuition to go up.
Medicare for all? Does the public think that is reasonable? After Obamacare was passed did they elect a bunch of Democrats to Congress in order to demand Medicare for all? Or did they elect a bunch of Republicans to demolish the "government takeover of healthcare"?
If your ideas get out there far enough, then the label of crazy really does fit.
Raising the minimum wage is not crazy, calling for $15 an hour kinda is. If not, where would you draw the line? Is a $100 minimum wage sane? Yes? What about $50? Still yes? (Note, if you are saying "No", right now then we are probably done trying to reason with each other).
My point is that clearly there is a line (somewhere) where a reasonable idea, like raising the minimum wage, or making college more affordable, becomes a crazy one.
