(7,231 posts)In private, most rich christian republicans like to demonstrate good manners and make someone welcome, even if they have made life choices that most others never had to make. Rabid homophobia is the exception, not the rule.
Compare this to a 2003 reunion of George W. Bush's old classmates. One of them had declared herself to be a woman since the last time she had met the War Criminal.
Woman: "Hi, I'm femalename, but you may remember me as malename"
War Criminal: "Well, you came back as yourself."

Rich republican christians are moderate to the extend that they accept in private what they condemn in public. So as long as you know them privately, there is always a chance to appeal to their willingness to bend the rules. Which is what they pretty openly invited Jenner to do.
