(45,319 posts)devotion do not really matter. It is not the props and the patter that matter, it is the use to which they are put which in Mitt's case includes slandering other people with lies, using those props and words to sell his crapola.
So if he did it using the lexicon of any faith or philosophy it would still be hypocrisy, mendacity and slanders. The 'Mormon' stuff is just a set of images and props for him to make use of. He could and would do the same with any other faith he might have chosen.
It is not the particulars of the faith, it is the particulars of the actions of the faithful in the name of their faith, or when using that faith as reason or warrant, that matters.
Your thinking seems to suggest that if anyone uses a 'faith' as cover for vicious actions, anyone who criticizes that is attacking the faith, when I say that it is the one exploiting the faith for personal agenda that is attacking the faith they claim to love. I just don't buy into this idea that if the person who beats me uses a crucifix, defending myself is an attack on the cross, not the person exploiting a sacred image for their own agenda.
