Honestly it would probably be better for her if she had lied just to get the scholarship and the NAACP job; people would probably be more forgiving.

This was deeper. She lied to give herself an identity and sense of purpose that her white skin and blonde hair didn't earn her growing up. She lied to get win the Oppression Olympics that so many discussions have a way of becoming.
