If this is true they probably cracked them to figure out what our plans are and it is so obvious we have plans targeting those countries or any country that is inconvenient. Anything at all would likely result in a defense strategy.
The report comes from the BBC which you may not know but they have a history of biased, misleading, or false reporting. Its not really independent of British government -- their Scottish referendum coverage was a very transparent example of this.

Yes and that couldn't possibly have happened because they cracked snowdens encription.
