(15,510 posts)For others reading this, back in the day, people used to go and actually help their neighbors build their homes. When a new family moved in, there was a house-raising and a barn-raising. Everyone worked together to make sure each family had a good start.
Unfortunately, our compassion for one another has been hurt by decades of corporate propaganda. We're supposed to be rugged individualists who are FREE to succeed (or fail - and they never tell you how bad that is!). We are supposed to be independent as opposed to interdependent. We are supposed to eschew helping others and raise ourselves up by the bootstraps!
I say....bullshit!
Let's start helping each other.
Oh, and we can also help each other by becoming informed about the issues and being active in our local politics, and VOTING in people who actually will represent OUR interests instead of the best interests of people like the Koch brothers, the Waltons and Sheldon Adelson.
