12. It's a decent rant, but it doesn't immunize him from criticism.

That's what it seems to me, an attempt at immunization. But criticism is not always wrong or disingenuous.

"If Obama makes a speech about a specific issue, he’s just spewing pretty words."

Yes. Sometimes he is.

"If Obama did it, it must have been the wrong thing to do."

Yes, sometimes it is.

"If he seeks compromise, he is caving."

Sometimes it is.

Etc.
