Every fall, I have an orb weaver who helps "decorate" the front door for Halloween. 
We use the side porch door and not the front door, so I just leave her (and all the ones weaving webs are "shes" - males don't do that elaborate stuff) because she kills the other bugs I don't like.
I usually put a note in when I order to go to the side porch, but I guess the driver doesn't always see that. I've heard some screams a time or two from weary drivers who didn't see the note. Once, I even had a shirt on with a cobweb on it (although, that was from the 1986 UT Vols combo of Reggie Cob and Chuck Webb and not a "spider" shirt) so it really freaked out the driver. She must have thought I was some kind of crazy spider lady.
In any case, I have an 8 year old daughter who always names the spider, Charlotte, for obvious reasons.
