(16,296 posts)is blue with a palm tree and a crescent moon. According to article cited below was the flag SC used during the Civil War.

BUT- in reading the article, it seems that the Confed. battle flag
"... the flag authorized to be flown at a designated location on the grounds of the Capitol Complex is the South Carolina Infantry Battle Flag of the Confederate States of America [the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia (General Robert E. Lee's Army) the South Carolina, Georgia, Florida Department "
So, it appears, SC has a two flags split personality - one the state flag, the other the Confed. flag which flies over the Capitol Complex. Wonder if this is common in other states?
