(10,252 posts)I'm a 68 yr white, retired female, and a Buddhist. I own a gun, a pistol, that I use to put sick animals on my llama ranch out of their pain, when they are dieing. I STRONGLY support sensible gun laws that keep guns out of the hands of crazy and violent people.
I just have one question: Why are you on a forum with racist hate-mongers? All they do is disrespect you and make you angry.
We have to channel our anger and rage about racism and gun violence towards the holy ideas of social and economic justice. And we're going to need very much energy to accomplish justice and sensible gun laws, because our government is corrupted by money. Our gov representatives - at all levels - has been bought and paid for by corporations and the monied oligarchs. (Am I telling you something that you don't already know?) They think that the acquisition of money is the highest of all virtues. And the more money you have, the more virtuous you are. They tell all sorts of lies, such as cutting taxes on corporations and the wealthy creates jobs, and that poor people are poor because of defective character and no ambition. They lie about climate change and its causes. Their only jobs program is the war industry. They see people as natural resources to plunder. College students are profit centers. Privitized charter schools and prisons are profit centers. And they want to privitize social security and the sell the post office to UPS. Basically privitize everything that isn't nailed down. To them, money ALWAYS is more important than people.
They are probably sociopaths to boot. Then they fear-monger people about Moslems, gays, immigrants, etc to get their vote.
For a very long time, we have tried to reason with them from economic arguments. But as a Buddhist, I see that the real problem is a moral issue. No, people are more important than the acquisition of wealth. It's an ethical issue. We have to get money out of politics.
