I am so damn mad this morning

This country is so fucked up. Really. I am almost without hope that we can
ever cure the racism that has existed from the founding of the country.

I had just been in Charleston the end of May. My husband and I have been going
to their annual Spoleto Festival the last couple of years. So I know exactly where
the church is.

I have had an ongoing argument with my husband about going--because it's in South
Carolina and they are still flying that damn Confederate flag--but we do. Maybe
next year we won't go. I have already signed a petition to remove the flag from
the State Capitol grounds--and added the message that we are thinking about
not coming back next year--but I really doubt that's going to do it. It almost
feels to me like collective action needs to be taken by the citizens of South Carolina
to say, 'no more Confederate flag'. But will that stop the hate felt by white supremacists?
I doubt it.

I do not have any answers. I am deeply disturbed, disgusted, and angry with you.
