Racism has always flourished in the South. There has not been a resurgence in recent years, it has just been more openly displayed than prior to President Obama's election.
I have always said I would never live in a red state down south to save money. I have visited Tennessee often enough over the last few years to hear the "n" work publicly said (yet the "gay" word cannot be said). I could never be at peace in an environment like that.
I do not believe I will live long enough to see racism in this Country end, and that truly saddens me.
