It would depend on the pattern for the teddy bear.
If you look at the teddy pear pattern on this page - http://kinnyfactory.deviantart.com/art/Teddy-bear-sewing-pattern-353865713 - the front and back are not split all the way up the middle. They are split only on the lower part which is brought together and sewn as a dart to shape the tummy and bum of the bear.

There is a small crease between the legs of this bear, just like the ones on the cake.
The woman objecting to the cake is an idiot with a dirty mind.
