The Republicans used to be the Liberals and the Democrats used to be the Conservatives. Those that like to confuse the issue always ignore that fact.
Replace Conservative with Liberal and Liberal with Conservative and it reads correctly.
The Confederate Flag has always been the flag of the conservatives, even when they were the Democrats.
