7. Sometimes the Indians win

In central Oregon, there is a town named Maupin, in honor of Howard Maupin, the rancher who shot Paulina, the Northern Paiute warrior and leader. But Paulina won the "naming after me" battle, with a small town in Crook County, Paulina Lake, Paulina Basin, Paulina Crater, and probably more.
