In the eyes of some, that makes me a racist (I wonder what they'd make of my rather extensive jazz collection?), but I can't be responsible for such persons' critical thinking deficit. Musical preference is only racist if someone's basing their dislike of a style on the race of its practitioners.
I also think that as musical genres go, most hip-hop (referring largely to the "pop" end of that genre), it's not one which demands the level of talent that some genres do...but that's a charge that can be leveled at other genres, too. Ever listen to much modern pop country, the major label Nashville stuff? It's even more formulaic and dumbed-down than pop hip-hop. Hip-hop, like any widespread musical genre, has its talented innovators...and it's talent-challenged wannabes. The latter invariably outnumber the former.
