We fight this problem every year and it only gets worse. Fireworks are illegal in Wi. without a permit and anyone can get a permit. The problem is that the permits have very specific restrictions that people don't want to abide by and they know the sheriffs dept. won't respond at any rate so they don't bother to get one. In my area, north of St. Croix Falls this goes on all summer and holidays in the winter. I have had several sometimes heated discussions with county law enforcement but it has always been an exercise in futility. We know that tonight(4th) all hell will break loose so we pile the dogs in the car and head to Crex Meadows where its quiet.
