23. My grandmother developed emphysema 15 years after she quit

At least that's when it was diagnosed. It eventually killed her. There is no cure for any forms of COPD. But medication can prevent exacerbations and respiratory infections that could make things worse. Get her to the pulmonologist ASAP when her Medicare kicks in.
