Donald Trump is a master of self promotion. He's getting bad press, but he's getting a lot of press. He now has poll numbers good enough to get himself into the 1st GOP debate (assuming he'll file FEC documents)and the money he's lost is a drop in his bucket. Both Democratic and Republican political focus groups show that people are looking for (paraphrasing) a straight shooter -- someone who is blunt and opinionated.

Plus, he's making Jeb look good in the eyes of Latino voters, which I think is the real object of this exercise of his.
