(1,713 posts)Once worked in a place where the boss kept telling me that this issue or that issue was the "#1 priority". I would be told that, at any given moment, as many as a dozen things were the "#1 priority". After weeks of that I finally responded that only one thing can be an actual, genuine #1 priority at any given time, and having more than one #1 priority was the exact same thing as having no #1 priority at all.
Likewise, political movements can't have more than one #1 priority. Overnight that #1 priority went from stopping TPP to taking down Confederate flags, and the very next day TPP, which had previously been defeated in Congress, was finally passed.
There's no avoiding the direct link between the Charleston massacre and the passage of TPP, and the enabling that the oh look squirrel crowd is responsible for in falling for the bait and changing focus at a crucial moment in history.
You could paint all of Dixie in Confederate battle flags and it wouldn't do the tiniest fraction of the actual damage TPP will do to us.
