12. The fire jumps by embers blown by the wind. Believe me, the scrub you see burned too.

We have fires up here in the San Bernardino Mountains that jump 1/4 mile at a time because of the blown embers. Dry pine trees are still full of sap and the sap burns like you wouldn't believe. Go to YouTube and look at Christmas trees and how fast they burn.
