16. On the contrary . . .

. . . There are a lot of people in this country, both Republican and Democrat, who have LGBT family member or friends. A sister of mine and her husband are a prime example. They are Republicans, but my sister has a brother (me), and she and her husband have a number of close friends who are lesbian or gay, they are very supportive on LGBT issues. They may not go out of their way to vote for pro-LGBT candidates, but they will certainly vote against any candidate who would actively oppose legislation such as this. And I believe there are a lot of folks out there like that (especially among Independents).
