Affirmative Action and Welfare will be ended by Reparations. The plan for Reconstruction was for the freed slaves to have their own land, communities and rule. For themselves, not anyone else. Nothing to fear there.

White Americans have their own. They don't have to fall for demagogues. Do what is equal, what is fair, and be done with it.

As for those who rave against the Minimum Wage increase, I won over a Teabagger with the argument that it ends Welfare, Food Stamps and Medicare. Because with a good wage, one doesn't need to go to the government and beg for what their wages should pay for.

I ended up with, "Do you think low wage workers want this hassle? Don't you think they'd rather pick their own food at the store and pay for their own medical care of choice? Not live at the behest of the state??" That sealed it for that bagger.

This is conservatives in America prolonging what they say they don't like by fighting what they consider wild-eyed liberal plans. Liberals and progressive are about good governance and freedom, which all could enjoy more of and more peace by just letting people be to live their lives. Everytime the oppressed are denied independence by proper payment, it creates more government intrusion in their lives and that of others.
