In reply to the discussion: Obeying traffic laws? How hard is it? [View all]steve2470
(37,481 posts)73. Obeying the law is for chumps!
I admit, I used to speed routinely when I was younger. Oh, those precious seconds I saved and the extra gas I burned! Then, law enforcement got me to change my ways. Tickets are no fun. So, these days I'm like you, MM. I drive the speed limit in the right lane, watch everyone save those precious seconds (and in all fairness, hours for those driving a very long distance), congratulate myself on being immune from tickets now, and relax. We all make choices in life, and those choices have consequences. I'll be a stick in the mud slowpoke in the right lane but at least I'm no longer paying speeding tickets. YMMV.

Traffic is so bad in SoCal now you really don't have to worry about speeding unless it's midnight!

I saw someone pass the cop last year. He used the deceleration/acceleration lane to do it.

In fairness, in certain vehicles optimum gas mileage is above the speed limit.
