to think back to how great it was when Olbermann was on, then Rachel got a show, and we always saw intelligent guests (as Chris Hayes was then), Martin Bashir was on -- and now what? Just stupid and more stupid (or perhaps I should use that phrase "dumb and dumber"
commentary.
And try to imagine when 2016 moves into sharp focus toward election day, the commercials we will see funded by the various Koch-funded PACs. Well, I for one will not see them because I won't be watching. However, there is no underestimating the power and influence these commercials funded by the Republican sponsors will make on the viewing public. I saw this first-hand in Maryland when Brown, who was running for Governor against Hogan, a Republican no less, was completely overwhelmed by non-stop commercials endorsing Hogan. Keep in mind Maryland has only had two Republican governors in the last 50 years -- but surprise, surprise, Hogan won.
The only good thing I can say is that Maryland has now switched to paper ballots -- I wonder why
so at least nothing can be changed remotely and if necessary a genuine hand recount can be conducted. I wish I could say that about a number of other states....
We are at a tipping point now where we really need there will be a huge turnout in 2016 for people supporting the progressive slate, meaning Democrats, Independents and some Republican defectors, to wash away the Koch influence and seek a return to citizen control. If that does not happen in this next election, the fallout will be such as we probably will never have a true opportunity again to take back our government.
