(9,090 posts)doing this and it's about time. hallelujah.
besides occupy CC i would also suggest boycotting and or calling of LOCAL sponsors of any radio station that has the main RW talkers on.
i would also suggest getting all universities that broadcast sports on any RW station to break their contracts and find alternatives- their mission statements are no consistent with global warming denial, hare, racism, sexism, partisan lying, etc.
some of those stations were involved with those universities BEFORE they went RW.
1000 think tank-coordinated radio stations reaching 50 mil a week has been loud enough and unchallenged enough to short circuit our normal democratic feedback mechanisms and create made-to-order pro-corporate constituencies for any occasion. no other medium can do what RW radio has been able to do the last 20 years.
without RW radio we wouldn't have had bush, iraq, wall st deregulation, tax unfairness, the tea party and debt ceiling delay, and some of the shittiest supremes in history, and we would have had single payer, media and election reform, action on climate change, and one hell of a lot more progressive reforms by now.
i just ended up on the old discussion linked above, lost my way, and posted there, about occupy clear channel.
