4. My sentiments exactly. I think a woman voting Republican is a contradiction anyway.

But I live in Texas and I see it every day. Some of the women down here (emphasis on "some", because it certainly is NOT all of us!!!!) seem perfectly happy to be submissive, they explain away any bad male behavior with a "boys will be boys" comment, and they don't seem to get upset when a man calls a woman ugly names. Perhaps it is their upbringing, or lack of upbringing. I was raised by a single father (mother died when I was young) and was surrounded by strong female role models growing up. I not only embrace equality, I demand it.

Those same women who support GOP values are vehemently opposed to a woman's right to choose. And let me go even further - I am in animal rescue here in Texas and some of the current issues being discussed in the circle of rescue communications involve whether or not to spay pregnant female cats and dogs. In a city that euthanizes thousands and thousands a year for lack of homes and lack of space, that seems like it should be an obvious decision. But there are groups of rescuers (many are women) that refuse to spay a female animal. Once that animal gives birth, these same people have NO issue with taking the mom and the litter to the pound where they have little chance of getting out alive.

I've never figured any of that out.

I simply comfort myself by knowing that *I* am not that way. I am greatly offended by the lack of equality, I am completely pro choice and I don't understand how these women can't see through the guise of the GOP and at least have enough self-respect and self-worth to demand equality.
