As long as I can remember Republicans have used any and all means to win elections. Democrats will take the high road and too often loose. If Democrats start to move even slightly to the Republican methods they are call out for "dirty politics".
The American people will say they are "turned off" by dirty-negitive politics. But, dirty politics seems to work.
Since SCOTUS has declared corporations people and we now have the Super Pacs there is now a way for a "campaign" to go to new depths and the candidate keep their hands clean. Just look at the Republican primary race, Romney was able to crush his opponents and still claim to be on the high road.
When Obama allowed a super pac to be formed he was criticized for doing just what everyone else and he ultimate opponent has done.
Perhaps it is time to accept the reality and play to win.
In 2008 Obama was both condemned for belonging to a "radical black Christian church" and for being a Muslim, while seeming to want to keep his personal faith somewhat off the table. He finally was forced to make a statement on his beliefs, similar as to how Kennedy was.
If it was fair to question Obama for his faith which he was keeping private why not Romney for a faith he has made very public (when it helps him).
I am an Atheist so I consider all religion myths.
But, the Mormon church has a lot of skeleton in its closet. The protestant church has done an excellent job in the past declaring Mormons to be a cult by documenting many beliefs of the church.
What would be wrong with making the information, which has been used in the past to condemn the Mormons as a cult, pubic beyond the conservative church. If Obama's faith mattered so much so should Romney's. If the American people don't care, so be it.
As to Bain. Romney is making his "record" at Bain the main evidence he is a good business person and can fix our economy. They are claiming all the jobs saved/created by Romney, why not point out the jobs which he cut.
