into the Animas before the EPA goofed up, that's why they were there in the first place.

Once the surface water clears, it will be OK for stock, at the very least.

The problem comes down river where the Colorado is dammed up to form Lake Powel and Lake Mead. That's where the cleanup will be most problematic and will likely take years.
