(25,704 posts)They live in a different culture than the west, have different mores and beliefs. They have their own histories which impact their beliefs, just as we do.
They freemasonry? Well, the Ottoman Empire was finally overthrown internally by the Young Turks, who organized in Masonic Temples (better to hide from the Sultan's secret police) and many were crypto-jews, members of the Donmeh families who converted (maybe) to Islam when their proclaimed Jewish messiah, Sabbatei Zevi, converted to Islam under threat of death and became a trusted advisor to the Sultan. The Donmeh became very powerful, still are to this day. In the ME, this among many things is why a jewish and masonic plot seems plausible.
The people of the ME are rational, when you see things from their point of view.
