82. I couldn't agree more, but the OP has their numbers wrong.

pre-WWII German population was over 40 million people. I think what the OP meant to say was: How did the Nazi Party ideology gain control over the German population. Well, they did it through propaganda and most importantly, through a democratic process. Of course we don't know how much of that process was legitimate, or rather how much of the voting process was corrupted by the Nazi leaders. When you use a "target" to divide the country and keep on telling the same lies over and over again about that target, the misinformation, regrettably, becomes the "truth''. They blamed all of their problems with the county on the Jews, the socialists, the democratic socialists, and anyone they deemed deviant.

The Republican Neo-conservatives are using the same tactics; they know it. They're not going away anytime soon. Because the media is part and parcel to the madness. The corporately controlled media's interests, PROFIT $$$, and not wanting to pay any taxes, are at stake. FOX NEWS is a surrogate for Corporate America in getting out the lies and half truths.

No, I think 6 million + jews, homosexuals, political dissidents, etc, refers to the number of people that were murdered by the Nazis. I don't think that the population of Nazi Party "followers", at it's inception, had any idea where Hitler would take the country, inevitably into total annihilation. But they were as ignorant as much of the population of the U.S. is today. FOX is making bigots and racists out of half of the population, telling the ignorant masses that the problem with the country is ''government" and ''entitlements''. Whether they'll succeed I have no idea. But now is the time for people to wake up.
