Just Denali? POTUS Plans More Mountain Naming Shockers!

by

Following the renaming of Alaska's Mt. McKinley to its common alternative name, Denali, President Obama got raves from some quarters and jeers from others. As America's most successful lame duck president ever, he plans more renaming of landmark mountains, according to sources close to the White House. One source, who insisted that her name not be made public, quoted Obama as saying ironically, "In for a penny, in for a pound. I might as well make my mark while I can."

The list of freshened-up mountain names isn't yet complete, but here are three that are rumored to be among the group:

The Grand Tetons are projected to get the new name, Big Boobs, effectively translating their current French name into more appropriate and better understood English.

Famed Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota is rumored to become Mt. Dead Presidents, more accurately reflecting the reality of the sculptural modification of this landmark.

Stone Mountain in Georgia, another sculptured desecration of a natural feature, could be renamed to Racist Generals Mountain, to correctly identify its symbolism.

Other landscape features may also get new names in this round of changing the nomenclature of US geological features. When we learn the plans, we'll report them to you here.
