In reply to the discussion: Gov. Jindal’s War On Planned Parenthood Has Created A Raging Syphilis Epidemic [View all]cynzke
(1,254 posts)But Planned Parenthood tries to address these problems, not merely treat the results. This is the forefront where these issues are first confronted and dealt with. Clinics don't just give these people a few shots an medicine an send them merrily on their way. And, I may be mistaken, these kind of communicable incidents get reported to the state's health department for further action. No one believes Planned Parenthood or any other clinic is going to eradicate these diseases, but they do SIGNIFICANTLY help reduce them. But notice a comment made about the lack of health centers. The bloggers on the right throw out these cavalier comments that there are plenty of alternative health care centers to replace Planned Parenthood. Actually that claim is unfounded. Despite the increase in community health centers, they can't keep up with the demand. Many don't want medicaid patients and there is a shortage of doctors. If you google these topics for your state, you will find dozens of articles addressing these issues by state. But from the comments these right wingers make, you would think there are clinics on every corner like ABC stores (Hawaii). Even if there were, so what. No one can tell you where you should go for your health care.
