17. Okay ... And?

I was at a graduation cook-out this past weekend for the son of some rightwing, conservative, fundamentalist christian (small "C" intentional), small-business owning friends.

The rightwing, conservative, fundamentalist christian (small "C" intentional), small-business owning father and his equally rightwing, conservative, fundamentalist christian (small "C" intentional), small-business owning brother were throwing the "socialist" term around with the typical beckerhead distain.

I finally asking, "Okay, it's not true; but let's say President Obama IS a socialist, so what?"

They responded it'll be the ruin of America because there has never been a socialist country that has prospered.

My response: "Ever heard of a country named Germany?"

Their response: "Germany is not a socialist country, it's a democracy."

My response: "Please pass the potato salad. Can I get you another beer?"
