we are going to get an additional 4 weeks severance pay! consulted with an attorney, and we don't feel we'd be better off by taking legal action for wrongful discharge....

at least the additional 4 weeks severance will help, and then after the surgery he can still apply for unemployment.

looking at options now ... get more schooling? if so in what? start a business? look for another "9-5" job (union this time!).
