(19,240 posts)167. Clue for folks who do not understand why some people can't "see beyond" race/gender etc.
Because we live in a country which stigmatizes and abuses members of minority groups for being minorities and women for being women and gays for being gay and disabled for being disabled. Every day. All the time. For two hundred years a bunch of folks who have not been oppressed have been promising to make it all better for us---like Santa Claus. Except Christmas comes only once a year. And we live with this shit every day.
There is a reason why social activism starts in the community. There is a reason it was important that Obama was a community organizer. We are not children. We do not need to be taken care of. We need to seize the tools to take care of ourselves.

OP
Ah, the other likelier syntactical possibility -- a hug *and* she still doesn't know who sent it...

Not the only place that "comments minimizing the impact of unsolicited hate mail" were found.

Nobody deserves to be treated like she was, and I hope we somehow catch the perp.

I think so too. I think the letter writer would be a person who loves the attention, even negative.

The letter scumbag could be the same scumbag just arrested for terrorism in Florida.

I think a percentage of people always vote to hide people who support the opponent

She did support Sanders, but she was also expressing frustration with his not connecting
