8. Maybe the Legislature will decide to get rid of the problem

They couldn't impeach Davis without upsetting the fundies. What they might well do when they reconvene (I think in January) is to pass a bill allowing conscientious objector county clerks to cross their names off the form. The Legislature could also provide that such licenses are valid and that provision is retroactive to the Supreme Court's decision. Davis stays out of jail and even keeps her job, people in Rowan County can get marriage licenses with or without her approval, and Kentucky gets to stop spending money on litigation that makes the whole state look bad.
