We start with pitchforks and torches on the drawbridge, and switch to shovels later.

In other words; we go to where power is concentrated, bring the light of exposure and tools to both keep attackers at bay and shift through whatever muck is there. And later, clean up, repair, replace and simply get on with living here on Earth.
