(2,101 posts)about anyone owning a firearm. In fact, up until that time I agreed with the crowd here in believing things had to be done to end a problem. Before explaining what changed I will give some personal history. Please bear with me and keep in mind that I do not own any firearms by choice, nothing prevents me from lawfully purchasing and obtaining concealed carry privileges.
In the 60's and 70's I had BB guns, pellet guns, shotguns, and rifles. I hunted and shot for pleasure quite often. During three enlistments I stood watches carrying and later supervised the watch who carried. No longer do I have a need for a gun. Other people do though.
The atmosphere here at DU became so toxic for gun owners that I rethought my position. My position now is in favor of the right to keep and bear. (Some) members of this sight have displayed such unrealistic goals and demands, have slandered those of like political philosophies, have demonized anyone not in lockstep with their totalitarian objectives, and have openly stated desires to forcefully take firearms out of the hands of their lawful owners.
So I changed my mind. I'll stop here.
