I actually snort on constitutional rights a lot because they seem to be selective depending on the authority I'm asking for my rights from. I have a right to be safe and that is what the constitution implies in the preamble, but I'm not because a 200+ year old paragraph allowing for militias, in a time when we didn't really have a standing army in rural and frontier communities allowed the residents to form militias for their safety. They also shot muskets and used swords. I don't think that's the rights the constitution guaranteed you. We now have a very large and expensive military. No militias are needed. I'm not saying you shouldn't have guns, but like owning anything that is lethal, like a car, airplane boat and so on, you need to go through a process to convince the authorities you are responsible and will not intentionally try to be an ass.
