Jim Guy Tucker, Democratic governor of Arkansas, became the target of a witch hunt by Ken Starr, while a Republican was sitting in the lieutenant governor's office. Tucker was forced to resign in 1996 based on the testimony of two known liars.

Bonus points if you can name the person who was lieutenant governor at the time.
