123. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, they are not the whole problem.

Before you go and start disparaging me as an apologist, let me say that I strongly support strong gun control legislation. I would love to see the number of guns in this country reduced by 90%. And the NRA is a huge part of the problem as well as the politicians that bow to them. I also agree with those that say we have a problem with taking care of our mentally ill citizens, esp those with little means.
However, one thing that never gets discussed, as far as I can see, is that our culture is a bully culture. We love the tough hero even if he/she breaks the law as long as they hurt the perceived "bad guys".

How many times have you read where our schools turn the other cheek when a bully picks on someone? We encourage bullies. In sports, it's not how you play the game, it's how many times your player dunks while his foot is in the opponents mouth?

The conservatives have raised generations of bullies. Conservatives saw an opportunity with Iraq in 2002 to be the big bullies. In foreign we are the biggest bully. I could go on but the bottom line is that guns are really the biggest bullies. If you get picked on and society turns their back, get a gun.

This isn't going to be a popular post, because most of us live in denial. We think that it's all the NRA's fault and that absolves us from blame. While they are a huge problem as are their puppet politicians, we also have some responsibility.

Again let me emphasize that we need to limit the access of these sick individuals to guns. And to do that requires that we reduce the numbers of guns in the USofA.
